So, I looked at the blogs of two of my classmates today, just to see what they were doing. Andrew’s, titled “Feedback in Pixels” and Tori’s titled “Shades of Pink.”

The first thing I noticed was that they both were organized, eye catching without being overbearing, and easily navigable.

It was interesting to see the line-ups between Wix, which Tori used, and WordPress, which Andrew and I both use. Tori’s was a bit meatier with a few distinct sections, but that can be chalked up to having to do a blog for a previous class. It’s the same reason why mine exists, and I just did some reorganization. The social media links she included also brought up the idea of a networked, serious outlet.

Tori’s voice was also straightforward, get the information across, this is what the article is about. I appreciated that, as sometimes when an author is being too cryptic or flowery, they lose the audience appeal and lose the connection they are attempting to build. Andrew’s style felt more conversational, which builds that audience connection in a different way, and the difference boils down to the type of readers one is hoping to attract: Is it for the personality or for the content, or a mix of both.

Personally, I hope to reach both. I want the content to be engaging and for the times it isn’t, my left-field commentary and snark to keep readers interested.
