Marooned on 12th Avenue

Lines from Belmar Beach

The sea shall not conquer me.
White capped fingertips
Graze a golden shore,
The thunder and fury
Of the gods in primal form.
The echoing calls of greater creatures
Bellow from beneath azure plains.
Wind whips across the surface,
To tear off fruits of trees up,
Up above the cares of mortal men.
Tomorrow the coast shall not
Look the same as yesterday.
Golden rays of anger beat down,
Warming the sapphire and the gold.
The wind shall whip up a storm
And erase forever what stands here.
Though I am bowed,
I remain unbroken.
For the sea cannot conquer me.
