Hello and Happy New Year!

For the longtime readers, thanks for sticking around! A year ago yesterday, on January 6th, 2024, I posted my challenge to myself to do something with this website. After finally spinning it up in February of 2024, I was proud to have put out some great work over the last almost year.

That’s not going to change. However, what will change is my schedule.

To be blunt, writing an article a week takes a lot out of me. I try to make sure my pieces are well-researched and that I know a decent amount of each article’s subject matter. That takes a lot out of me. When I started this project, I was unemployed. Writing two articles each week along with creative pieces was much less resource intensive. I had to cut it back to one article a week when I found employment, and I’ll be honest, the quality started dropping off.

Going forward, I’d rather focus on quality, and not quantity of these articles to make sure they’re up to a standard which I feel is acceptable. Also, researching and writing these articles over the last year has burned a lot of the spare time which I would have used for creative endeavors, and I have neglected the novel I so dearly want to write more for and eventually get published. On top of all of this, there exists another more banal truth: I’ve exhausted my list of topics for the articles and need some time to figure out some more. There have been a lot of great things I’ve written about, and maybe a few of them should be revisited and explored in more depth. But there are also lots of new things to write about and I want to give them the care and attention they rightly deserve.

This year, I will be posting regularly once a week, on Wednesdays now. A creative piece for the first and third weeks of the month, and an article on the second and fourth. This new schedule begins this week.

However, that does not mean the number of words I’m putting here will change quite as much, because I plan on doing more serendipitous creative posts if I don’t have a major project to put up. And a major project I do. Back in November, I made the plan to participate in National Novel Writing Month. However, November saw many personal setbacks, and I was unable to complete that story. Starting sometime in the next month or so, I plan to start putting up a chapter a week of that story to carry through a significant portion of this year and let it be seen as it so deserves.

I hope you stick with me as I continue figuring out how this website is realized, and I appreciate you staying so far to witness the first almost-year of what I’ve been trying to do here.

May your 2025 be happy, safe, productive, and fulfilling! Hope to see you back here as the year rolls on!
