You Are The Ocean

(Credit: Author)

You are the ocean,
Wild and chaotic,
Mighty and merciless,
Comforting and frightening,
Unyielding, ever changing, and full of life,
Brimming with stories and possibilities,
And secrets yet to be uncovered.
You are the ocean,
Seeking affection from the unworthy and unwilling,
Intimidated by your messy contradictions,
Fearful of your vibrance and spirit.
Suffer not the fools who merely skim your surface,
Who dare not venture past the shallow shores,
Who find no renewal or cleansing in your waters.
Rather favor those who see your depths,
Who dream of reaching the treasures beneath the surface,
Who find their peace in the gentle rocking of your waves,
And their home in the infinite expanse of your possibilities,
Whose light reflects and refracts off of you,
Turning your surface into a kaleidoscope canvas at first and last light,
And revealing your resplendence so wrongfully denied.
