Of the two realms, sacred and profane,
I am an unwilling denizen of the latter.
An errant creature scratching at the light
Above the pit from which I shall never escape.
There is nothing holy about a place like this.
There is nothing holy about a monster like me.
I am an intruder, a threat to security and peace.
Extermination is the only proper safety measure.
Eternally untrustworthy,
Endlessly expendable.
My expiration shall have negligible meaning and impact.
My life shall be forfeit at first resort.
Rage is unacceptable, screams must be muted.
I am traumatic to those I hold dear.
I am only allowed feelings in service of others.
My own darkness is forbidden by the world.
Deferred emotion draws deeper lines on the face,
A heart continues beating in defiance of a fractured mind,
Resentment pouring into each drop of blood,
The whispers of charlatans turn hostile ears sympathetic.
Where does the reservoir go
When the dam is cracked open?
When the walls are blown apart,
What happens to those standing in the house?
Beasts with restraints will inevitably lash out,
Infantilization and derision come with their own prices.
Mercy and temperance are noble traits for the strong,
But even tungsten has its breaking point.
For every reaction, there is an equal and opposite reaction,
And an equal and opposite reaction, and an equal and opposite reaction,
Recursive aftershocks until the whole world is ash and rubble.
Is it so inconceivable that self-hatred is in excess?
