Hello! My name is Ryder. I’m a writer with a degree in English Literature who has been writing stories since I was in high school, playing guitar since college, and taking photographs since I was very little.
This site started in college as a blog for two courses I took. I left it up in the intervening years since I didn’t know what to do with it. In January of 2024, I decided to resurrect this place, and come up with a regular posting schedule. I’ve been quiet on a lot of matters for a long time, and felt it was time that changed. The website name, “Ark of the Lost Angels” came from a high school acquaintance attempting to remember the name of the first Indiana Jones movie. I liked the phrase so much that I used it for my little corner of the internet.
On this site, I plan to use this place as a showcase for my creative writing, both posts from the archive and new pieces I write to post here, as well as articles on world affairs, entertainment, and a host of other subjects I find interesting or believe there is something worth saying.
This site will be updated weekly with posts going up on Wednesdays. A creative piece for the first and third weeks of the month, and an article on the second and fourth. Additional creative pieces will be up if I feel they’re worth sharing immediately, and impromptu articles and editorials will go up on a “whenever I feel like” basis if I feel there’s something warranting them outside of the normal schedule.
For the last several years, I’ve been working on creative writing as a passion of mine. I have developed multiple novel ideas, a few short stories, and plenty of poetry since college. With such a backlog, I thought it was best to have some place of mine to showcase it. I’ve also decided to put up a gallery of some images, since amateur photography is also a hobby of mine. Pictures of mine used for posts here, as well as others will go on the Gallery page.
All content on this site is created by me unless otherwise attributed. All work written by me is not to be used without permission and proper attribution. Furthermore, no form of Generative AI or Large Language Model was used to create any of the content on this site. I firmly believe and have openly stated that the creative process should be done by human hands alone, and to use AI is antithetical to my values as a writer and as someone who supports other artists. With that in mind, I do not give permission for any work on this site to be used in the training of any form of these tools. Skynet can suck it.
Furthermore, I have attempted to source external images in accordance with Fair Use and Creative Commons allowances with proper attribution of the source if at all possible. If the use of any image goes against the wishes of its original creator, please contact me and I will happily address all concerns up to and including the removal of the offending image.
