Endless echoing halls of empty mirrors and stifled dreams,
Long lingering memories of electrifying accidental touches,
Whispers of affection crafted from nothing to satisfy a heart crying out
For something more than the nothing it has now.
Mistakes trace their fingertips across the mind,
Sending shivers of pain down the spine,
Ghosts being all too eager to grab one’s hand,
Lead a dance through a ballroom of neglected desires.
Afterimages of angel wings flutter in the corners of an eye,
Too exhausted to reckon with recognizing reality,
While lips recall the aftershocks of the last world-shattering kiss,
And the heart continues to drip from being ripped out while beating.
The world seems bent and slanted, warped by a lying mind,
Strained and stratified by the stress of sleeplessness,
Begging for the cold early nights of winter’s grasp,
When it is easier to slip away from this world.
